 To 3D Knee είναι το αποτέλεσμα έρευνας πολλών ετών και είναι η πρώτη αρθροπλαστική γόνατος σχεδιασμένη να αναπαράγει και να συμπληρώνει τις φυσιολογικές κινήσεις της άρθρωσης του γόνατος.
Τα πλεονεκτήματα στο σχεδιασμό της 3D πρόθεσης είναι:
η διατήρηση της λειτουργίας του τετρακέφαλου και ο περιορισμός της τριβής της επιγονατίδας χάρη στην αποτροπή της οπίσθιας ολίσθησης (anterior slide),
η βελτίωση της κίνησης μεταξύ της μηριαίας πρόθεσης και της επιγονατίδας
η βελτιωμένη επιφάνεια επαφής του οπίσθιου μέρους των μηριαίων κονδύλων και του κνημιαίου οστού κατά την κάμψη,
η μείωση της ασκούμενης στο εμφύτευμα πολυαιθυλενίου τριβής από τις προθέσεις χάρη στον ειδικό σχεδιασμό του.
Στην ελληνική αγορά διατίθεται η MIKA σειρά εργα¬λείων με μικρότερους σε μέγεθος οδηγούς κοπής, οι οποίοι επιτρέπουν ακριβή κοψίματα και μικρότερη αφαίρεση οστικής επιφάνειας για αρτιότερη εφαρμογή των προθέσεων.
